Antara was born in West Bengal. She finished her schooling from Julien Day School in South Kolkata and got her B.A.Degree in Sanskrit from Ashutosh College.She started her career as a TV actress and was also modeling for Oriya Albums. By showing her presence in the Oriya video albums, she got offers in the film industry. Her debut was in the Bollywood movie Blackmail starring Ajay Devgan and Sunil Shetty. She was noticed only after her film Tauba Tauba where she was seen opposite Laxmikant Berde.
